Beyond Your Campus: Students and Parents Voice Views on College Value and Admissions
According to a Morning Consult survey commissioned by College Board, students and parents believe that a college degree holds equal or increased value in the post-pandemic era. The survey—conducted among a representative sample of more than 1,000 high school students aged 16–18 and 605 parents—aimed to explore attitudes toward college amid the current test-optional admissions environment:
- 70% of high school students and 77% of parents believe that a college degree is valuable and even more valuable now than before the pandemic.
- Over 80% of students expressed their desire to have the choice of sending their test scores to colleges.
The survey indicates that college entrance exams, second to GPAs, are seen as providing students with the most equal opportunity to showcase their strengths during the admissions process, shown below:
