Get to Know the Collaborative
The Access and Opportunity Collaborative is a cross-disciplinary group of education professionals and organizations dedicated to upholding the principles of equitable access to higher education and promoting access, opportunity, and success on campus.
Our Founding
In 2004, following the aftermath of Gratz v. Bollinger and Grutter v. Bollinger, College Board, with our partner, EducationCounsel LLC, founded the Collaborative.
Our Mission
We support higher education institutions, organizations, and students across the country, with a mission to serve as a:
- National thought leader for comprehensive, evidence-based, and legally sound access policies.
- A resource for sophisticated and pragmatic policy analysis, practice guidance and actionable research to support institutional, mission-based goals.
- A group where enrollment and university leaders can work collaboratively on policy and practice development.
In all our work, we seek to:
- Support the effective use of data and research connected to real-world policy and practice issues.
- Identify and develop replicable best practices that reflect sound policy and are legally sustainable.
- Find common ground to develop a principled and pragmatic policy and practice agenda.
Our Sponsors
Our 97 sponsors play a vital role in advancing our mission. Through their generous contributions of time and expertise, they help expand student access to higher education.
These sponsors include national associations, leading organizations, and distinguished individuals from a diverse array of College Board member institutions.
